Seven reveals digital Rugby World Cup channels

 

Channel 7 have revealed plans to broadcast the 2003 Rugby World Cup in 16:9 widescreen alongside two enhanced multichannels containing statistics and alternative game commentary.

The network have stated this "represents the first major steps in digital television sports production for Seven and the television industry".

Seven's main digital broadcast will be screening Rugby World Cup matches in 16:9 widescreen format with digital TV quality sound.  This will allow the viewer to see action from the far left and far right of the screen normally cut off with standard TV. 

The 'Statspad' enhanced channel (pictured) will place the action "picture in picture" with game and player statistics featured alongside gameplay. Viewers can also select analysis and logistics of the game as it happens.

'7+' will allow viewers to select multiple audio commentaries of the game, in both english and foreign languages - sourcing the commentary from various television networks around the world.
